Press Release for Dec 2006 Reunion

SILVER JUBILEE REUNION - CLASS OF ’82

Mount Carmel convent formerly known as The Mount Carmel European School was founded in July 22nd. 1885. This 121 year old institution changed it was name to Mount Carmel Anglo-Indian Girls’ School in 1947 after India’s independence.

True to its motto HOLD YOUR LIGHT ON HIGH, while lighting the flame of wisdom in students the school strives to nurture the latent talents in their students.
This institution now has grown into a full-fledged school with over 4500 students and 150 staff. The school is affiliated to the ICSE and ISC Board New Delhi. The school also provides residential facilities and the school boarding is a home away from home.


This has along with it an aided Malayalam School which has also grown in similar proportions. Upholding age-old traditions and values, this school imparts the modern education with the latest technology. Curricular and co-curricular activities go hand in hand. To build a competitive spirit among students the school is divided into 4 houses (red, yellow, blue, green). Various competitions are held on a house basis.

The 1982 batch is meeting at the school campus to celebrate their SILVER JUBILEE RENUNION on 29th Dec 2006. This is the first official Alumni meet of this 121 year old institution. This batch of 46 students spread out over 12 countries holding very prestigious posts are getting together. In addition to honouring and thanking the 18 staff members past and present, the batch proposes to institute scholarships in academics, arts and sports in memory of three of their friends who passed away. Moreover it plans to develop a corpus fund to help any of the needy students.
